Annapolis Royal

We had a quite full day yesterday.

 

There is wharf next to the campground so I went over and took a few shots of the boats at low tide. The difference in low to high tide here is about 30 feet.

 

 

 

 

We went into Annapolis Royal to check out the Farmers / craft market.

 



 

 

Fort Anne is an historic British fort. Before Halifax was founded Annapolis Royal was the capital of Nova Scotia, one of the only two remaining copies the charter granting the land to create Nova Scotia is on display at the fort. 

 

 

We ended the day with a cool tour of the old cemetery.

 The guide was a hoot and very informative. They provided the lanterns to the group and it was neat to see a big group of people walking through the dark cemetery holding their lanterns. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Base Camp 3

We spent Monday doing laundry and went of a two kayaking tour.

 

 

Yesterday we spent the morning traveling to our third and final camping spot. We had dinner at Ye Old Town Pub in Annapolis  Royal. I is suppose to be the smallest pub in Nova Scotia.

After we ate we walk around the harbor board walk then went back to camp to catch the sunset over the Bay of Fundy.

 

 

 

 

Lunenberg Nova Scotia

We spent a good part of today in Lunenberg. It's a cute little harbor town and is a UNNESCO World Heritage Site.  We wandered around town, did some shoping and we ate lunch at a place that was once a fish packing factory.

After lunch we went on a whale watching boat, we didn't see whales but we did see a number of other things.

 

 

  

The Ovens Campground

Yesterday (Saturday) we traveled from Cape Breton to our second base camp at the Ovens Natural Park. The facilities are ok but the campground is rift on the Alantic and the place has some awesome views. The draw here are the caves along the shoreline.  The park is close to the town of Lunenberg.

After we set up camp we walked over to the small cafe here at the park and ate dinner. After dinner we did the cave trail walk which was spectacular.

    

I got up early to watch the sunrise.

  

Touring The Cabot Trail

Yesterday we had a very full day. Started with a good breakfast. We also had a guest Skippy the chipmunk.

 

 

He pulled a big plastic spoon off the table and when we went to pick it up it was gone. The spoon was as big as Skippy. I inserted a video that Paul shot with his phone. (note this video may not work with your browser)

 

We spent the day driving from Cheticamp where we are staying over to Ingonish which is on the opposite of the Cape. We made a number of stops along the way. I think if we stopped at every scenic turnout or spot you can visit we would still be on the road.

 

One of our first stops was a waterfall at MacIntosh Brook, not huge but was worth the look see.

 

We also stopped and a cool rocky point just before we had lunch.

 After we got back we had Lobster and listened to a Acadian fiddler at a place called La Gabrielle.
